Doing good, and doing it well.
My name is Natalie and I am a journalist and multimedia content creator in Yellowknife, NT.
Multimedia content might sound vague, but that’s because between video and audio production, writing, editing and packaging, I am excited about creating on a range of platforms.
As a reporter for Northern News, I cover courts, cops, and general news. I write for three weekly newspapers to deliver balanced, comprehensive news coverage that serves Yellowknifers and residents of the Northwest Territories.
Through Journalists for Human Rights, I worked with Iskatewizaagegan Independent First Nations in Northern ON to rebuild their community radio station. After months of workshops, programming and collaboration on how best to create a form of local media to best suit the community, 102.9FM continues to run strong. Throughout the Covid-19 pandemic, the station broadcast local news, community emergency updates and well as trivia, bingo and talk shows to keep residents occupied and engaged.
In 2017, I spearheaded a video time capsule for Ottawa City Hall, which showcased 100 Ottawa entrepreneurs and business in Canada’s capital during its 150th year. I have filmed, produced, and edited video interviews with students, teachers, and administrators working towards indigenous education and reconciliation in the public school system.
I’m someone you can trust to deliver quality content under pressure. From researching and interviewing, to writing and producing, through all stages of the process I am eager to tell stories that carry weight.
I also, almost always, have snacks.
